Rethinking aquaculture

eFeedLink

An August 2019 report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said that "(a)quaculture is lagging far behind terrestrial agriculture - both crops and livestock - in terms of the characterization, domestication and improvement of its genetic resources for food production."

Indeed, as indicated by the report (http://www.fao.org/3/ca5256en/CA5256EN.pdf), there are significant opportunities to enhance sustainable aquaculture production through the strategic management and development of some of the more than 550 species currently used in aquaculture. Apart from improvements in genetics, the development of alternative aquafeeds and smart aquaculture technologies are also playing increasingly important roles in this endeavour.

eFeedLink explores these topics in a technical forum campaign entitled "Rethinking Aquaculture". To ensure that you receive out latest updates, please contact mailto:inquiry@efeedlink.com
